BENGALURU: Garbage seems to have invaded the collective consciousness of city’s techies who are churning out internet of things (IoT)-driven ideas to tackle the city’s waste management crisis.
Sanchit Jain, founder of logistics firm DreamOrbit, has come up with a smart garbage bin that allows dumping only by authorised persons, displays quantity of waste collected, calls the collection truck when full and also rings service personnel in case of a malfunction. “BBMP could even impose a fine on the generation of excess waste and incentivise minimal waste generation,” suggests Jain.

Jain, however, unsure of taking it forward. Building a proof of concept is expensive and there is no guarantee that BBMP will be interested in the solution….
